UKSEDs National Rocketry Competition is a nationwide competition aiming to allow students to implement their knowledge, hands-on and research skills in order to design and manufacture a rocket which goes up to 1.5 km vertically within a restricted budget of approx. £150.
I was a part of the avionics team in order to design the electrical circuit using Altium Designer CAD software. I analysed components and selected them based on legal, size, performance and budget limitations. I also managed to solder the components and test that all components were connected based on our schematics. I also helped in programming the avionics teensy microcontroller.
My team and I managed to achieve an apogee of 1.5 km and rank 6th nationwide. However, we did not manage to recover the rocket due to losing the GPS signal after reaching the maximum height.
